London Marathon

LOAD: 1050

26.2 Miles @ Marathon Pace (RPE: 4-7)

It doesn’t get any bigger than this. What an opportunity. Just be sure to have a clear pacing and fuelling strategy. Stick to it and don’t go off too fast. 90% of marathon runners do just that.

I would have bet my car (I don’t have a house) on Jack Matthews running his goal time at Brighton. But it didn’t happen. That’s why I’ve been quite persistent with my advice. What did he do wrong? He wasn’t prepared for the hotter temperatures and went off too fast. It looks like it might be warm, so if you do have a hat I would recommend having that option. Also take on plenty of water at every opportunity. If you get the early pace right I think you could have such a good race and cruise round to sub 4, which would be a massive PB. Could you go a bit quicker? Possibly? But there will be more opportunities ahead to achieve that, and running a well executed race here with even splits will just show everyone, once again, what fantastic progress you have made and what a brilliant runner you are. Obviously be aware it’s likely to measure quite a bit longer than a marathon hence why I’ve set 9:05 rather than 9:08 as the target pace, but if you can find the pacers then even better. Very best of luck Lindsey. You got this. Go smash it.

Target Time: 3:59 Target Pace: 9:05

Sorry for delay in feedback! Absolutely loved this, and feel so lucky to of been given this opportunity to run london again. So so pleased with my time! Without your advice and feedback I wouldn’t be wear I am. So thank you. Love being part of Team 🍊 I know I dont always listen and follow advice, and I can just imagine your face when you saw my pacing at the start of this. Im sorry I wanted to try and get in with the wave infront just to be behind the 3.55 pacer. Ended up passing that pacer and just running to what was comfortable. Slowed it down a bit towards the end cos of the heat! Again thank you so much for this plan and your advice.

πŸ˜‚ That does make sense in regards to the early pace. You are forgiven πŸ˜‰ I’ll be honest given how busy it was and trying to spot other runners I didn’t track anyone’s pace, which worked out for the best. You did will to ease off and at it was a sensational time. I’m pretty sure when I suggested sub 4 at the start of the plan you were very apprehensive (or was it the other way around), either way, to smash that out of the park, in really difficult conditions, is testament to how much you have improved. And to be honest, my main thought now is how much more can you improve on that time? Quite a bit probably, which is exciting. Fantastic running Lindsey and I appreciate the kind words. It’s a pleasure working with you and I know the team are inspired by your work ethic and improvement. So keep being awesome.
