LOAD: 1050
26.2 Miles @ Marathon Pace (RPE: 4-7)
It doesn’t get any bigger than this. What an opportunity. Just be sure to have a clear pacing and fuelling strategy. Stick to it and don’t go off too fast. 90% of marathon runners do just that.

The weird thing about Marathons is they are super easy for the most part, but then all of a sudden they can get horrible. That’s why pacing it right from the start is so key. Get it right and it can actually be pretty enjoyable, get it wrong, and it will be the worst experience of your life. For me 4 hours is a great target. At that pace you should feel like you are cruising for the most part, then at 20 miles you might need to dig deep. It’s a real skill holding back the pace early on when you feel fresh and everything is saying go quicker. But trust me, in the final 6 miles you’ll be grateful. It’s at that point if you still feel good then look to run those last 6 miles progressively quicker, if you do you’ll be overtaking all those runners who got it wrong. Very best of luck Nick, have a brilliant day, not many of us get to do this race, so embrace it and soak up the atmosphere. If you can find a pacer group even better, get involved, chat to some other runners and just have a great time.
