Out of the Blue 10K

LOAD: 41

2km WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

10km @ Varied Pace (RPE: 6-9)

2km CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

Tough route if you choose to race it. Pace will fluctuate given the elevation so focus on maintaining a consistent RPE.

Definitely not a race to be clocking a quick time given the terrain and elevation. Rye, on a calm day is possible a few mins quicker. So with that in mind, and week 1 of the new plan, I’d be inclined to take this a little steady, especially lap 1, then you can produce a strong finish and take some people towards the end. Very best of luck. We sometimes pop over to watch this one, so I’ll let you know if I’m heading over.

That was a really good run. Overall, second lap was 12 seconds slower but that was with a water break at the start of the lap and a small walk break the last 20ish metres of the hill, so overall effort picked up the second half. Unfortunately found myself in no mans land most of the second lap though with no one to pick off and no one pushing from behind, but the last two km felt strong. Yes, that sounds good to me, happy to have a meet up at some point if that works!

Sounds like you ran a strong and enjoyable race. It can be tough and slightly odd when you find yourself in a race situation with no-one else around, but well done for keeping the foot down. Definitely one of those runs which will help progress the fitness. Excellent work Jamie. Sadly had to get my dad from the hospital at 7pm so wasn’t able to come over, but I’m sure we’ll cross paths soon or if our plans align I might try and arrange an easy run together over your way, just so we can meet and chat if that sounds interesting?
