parkrun

LOAD: 30

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)
8 x 100 metre Strides (RPE: 8)

parkrun @ 5km Pace (RPE: 8)

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

Running with others can reduce perceived effort so parkrun is a good option as an alternative speed session. 10 mins easy WU & CD please.

It wasn’t parkrun but I did head out for a slightly hungover 4 mile plod along the canal. I had a couple of amazing encounters with some heron so kept in interesting and distracted from the hangover. I’m proud of myself for this one as I easily could have made my excuses and sat it out. My calf was feeling a lot better and I think it benefittted from a few extra days rest after Sunday

I feel like your week does raise an interesting point and one I’ve tried to account for. To this point my plans always ask for consistency on a week to week basis. But that kind of unrealistic when we consider how we might feel can vary massively depending on so many outside influences. And it’s why I’ve introduced this “Training Readiness” data input. Some weeks we might need to reign it in, like you have here, and then when there are weeks where we have more free time or feel great, we can increase the training slightly to compensate. So thank you for changing things up this week and listening to the body. Hoping I can continue to learn as a coach in this way and get the best out of the team.
