Rye to Hastings

LOAD: 65

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

12 Miles @ HM Pace (RPE: 5-8)

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

3 Races in 1. 9km of flat through the nature reserve and tricky Sea Wall. Nothing quicker than half marathon pace through this section. Then comes the climb, take your time and walk where needed. The finish from the top of Barley Lane is great fun, let yourself go and you could be running anywhere between 5-10k pace down the hill.

DNF after 7.5miles by the Cove pub in Fairlight. No injury just legs didn’t have anything left – felt like jelly and calf was beginning to ache. Knew I had another 1hr 20 plus to run (including up and over the Firehills) and didn’t see the point in injuring myself for it for what was always planned as an easy run.

Really sorry to hear this but sounds like you did the right thing. There’s definitely been better signs in recent weeks, so no need to overthink this or let it get you down. Monday is a new week and we go again, positive and just grateful that the calf is ok and you can get stuck into another week of training.
