SDW50

LOAD: 1500

50 Miles @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3-6)

Ultra races of this nature are very much about strategy and fuelling. Get those right, keep to an easy pace from the start line and anything is possible.

There’s not really much I can say here other than very best of luck. You done the miles over the past 20+ weeks to get yourself primed for this. Of course it’s going to be brutal at times, but just know the whole team are supporting you and ready to see that Strava post. If anyone I know can do this it’s you. It reminds me of that point in my Beachy Head marathon when you were the only one still running. So proud of you Anna. Go and smash it! I will be following your tracker all day long. 🖤🧡

Wow that was epic! Next time I tell you I like hills feel free to remind me that almost 2000m elevation is a bit much!!! I was a bit freaked out by the heat for the first few hours but thankfully it cooled down a bit. Lovely people as always on these events. I had hoped for a slightly faster time, but over that distance and elevation I’m being kind to myself and am proud to have finished- 11.5 hours of running hills is achievement enough for now! I was pleased that I maintained a really positive mental state for most of the run… obviously it was really tough but I didn’t go through the negativity that really knocked me on the NDW50 last year, when I was properly telling myself I was rubbish and had a stupid hobby!!! It was such a lift to see you and Jax on the course- thanks so much. I was looking forward to lying on my sofa when I got home drinking beer and wearing my medal, but was too broken by the time I got home and crawled into bed!!

You did amazing and looked so strong when we saw you, even at Alfriston. I think it’s important not to get too caught up in time. Especially with the bonkers elevation involved here. It’s all about the experience of being out on those beautiful trails for that amount of time. It was great to see you and a good excuse to get up on Ditchling Beacon which was breathtaking as well as exploring Alfriston for a few hours. To be able to maintain a positive mindset for such a long time period is so impressive and you should be super proud of that, not to mention the achievement of getting that done. Awesome running Anna.
