Seaford 10K

LOAD: 410

2km WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

10k @ 10k Pace (RPE: 6-9)

2km CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

Looks a fast flat route, taking in Seaford prom and then a bit of narrow path. If the wind is light an excellent chance to run a fast 10K.

We are in week 2 of this plan. So yes whilst you are still running really well, just approach this will no expectations or targets. Obviously give it your best and a PB would be brilliant, but the focus of this plan is to ultimately get a better 10k in 14 weeks, so whatever time you run here is laying down a marker for the next 3 months.

PACE

About 2 miles in I knew I was in trouble. I did think about pulling out and walking back but even at that early stage decided to use is as a training run, so I reduced the pace and reduced the pace etc. Even hitting 2.5, I was still thinking turn back. So in the end, today was about finishing. Thanks for coming back to get me! Similar to your comments, it’s done. move on.

Well done for keep going Rebecca. Remember that mental score we had in the assessment. That’s gone up a notch. I had a very similar experience and it could be a number of factors. It’s likely you’re probably still some way below 100% after the recent illness and conditions were challenging with the heat and wind. Again it was evident for those around me that most were struggling to maintain their pace. We need to have these disappointments to make the achievements stand out. If it were easy all the time, then there would never be any sense of euphoria when we finally hit our goals and PBs. The question I asked myself, is what could I have done differently. I think the answer was changing my goals pre race slightly due to the conditions and also a slightly different mindset (not so negative). If we can take those lessons forward then it will only help us in the future. Sometimes it’s these runs which actually make us stronger runners.
