Road Relays

LOAD: 200

20 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

2 Miles @ <3k Pace (RPE: 8-9)

20 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

Pretty much max effort for 2 miles. A good warm up and cool down are extra important here.

Best of luck. Not much for me to say here, other than really post a good WU and CD. I’ve put some strides in there post run as well to get you ready to run at that quicker pace.

Think I could have gone out abit harder but to come home with a 3rd place sussex medal will do nicely. Done both miles the same pace which tells me I could of dug deeper I think. Food to be part of a team but that short distance isn’t my thing I don’t think.

Great work on the medal Steve. Always a bonus when doing an event like that and traveling. I think we all have our preferred distance but equally I think it will benefit you to still do events like this and 5ks and make you a better all round runner. I think from a mindset point of view, try to make sure you don’t go into the 5ks telling yourself “this isn’t my thing” and ultimately that could effect your performance. It’s still ok to accept it’s not your strength, but the mindset we want is to instead focus on the elements we can control and doing them to the best of my ability. So replacing “this isn’t my thing” with “I’m going to give it my all today” will ultimately make you a better runner and improve your half marathon times too.
