If you’re looking for a fast half marathon time then you’ve entered the wrong race or at least landed on the wrong pace. This isn’t one for maintaining a consistent pace with an elevation just shy of 500 metres (more according to other sources).
The race starts with a steep incline as you make your way up towards Beachy Head. You then head inland and through the delightful village of Friston before joining the coastal path and experience amazing views.
The toughest section comes towards the end of the race around 11.5 miles which a steep incline on Beachy Head. It’s worth noting that this race often takes place on a different day to the Marathon. It’s a good opportunity to experience part of the route and build up your fitness for the following year.
Given the challenging nature of the route this is a race to ignore your watch and your pace. Go out and enjoy it and the views that are on offer.
