Beachy Head Ultra

Race

Session Details πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Training Load: 1200

31.1 Miles @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3-7)

SUMMARY πŸ“

This isn’t about time or pace. This is about getting across that finish line. If you do, then be proud of yourself.

COACH SIMON NOTES 🍊

The Beachy Head Ultra is a new addition to this popular event. It takes in the Marathon route which starts in Eastbourne and heads inland through Jevington and Alfriston.

It then heads South taking in some amazing views as runners tackle the challenging Seven Sisters and Birling Gap. When getting close to the finish the Ultra then incorporates the 10K loop to complete the distance.

Beachy Head is an extremely challenging route with over 1350 metres of elevation. There is a steep incline at the very start where you’ll be forced to walk or even clamber up the bank, before you even get the opportunity to start running.

There are 4 big climbs in the first 12 miles before you even hit the coastal path and Seven Sisters. This is definitely a race where strategy is key and walking the hills early on is the best approach to save energy to complete the whole distance.

This isn’t about time or pace. This is about getting across that finish line. If you do, then be proud of yourself.
