The Staplehurst 10 Miler always takes place on the last Sunday of the year. It is also referred to as the EOY 10 (End of Year).
The race is organised by Running & Riding, an events company that have been around since 2007 and host a number of races in the South East.
I took part in the Staplehurst 10 Miler for the first time in 2024 and was really impressed with the organisation. There was street parking nearby and the HQ was in a large hall, quite central in the village.
The start and finish are both approximately 10 minutes walk from the HQ and not in the same location, so something just to bear in mind, especially if you have any spectators coming to watch.
The race surrounds the outskirts of the village on relatively quiet country lanes, although none of them are closed for this event, so be careful of the traffic.
There is one challenging hill of note which comes around the 6 mile mark and really slowed me down. Once that has been tackled the majority of the route is either flat or downhill, so a pretty swift time is possible.
In 2024 there was a decent turnout and almost a dozen of my runners took part. I would highly recommend this race to anyone who fancies finishing the year strongly.
