COACH

Fantastic work Lou. Really well done at Battle. In terms of HHM, the level you are running at right now suggest just under 2 hours is the right target for you. So it will be challenging, but you’re definitely fit enough to achieve it. It’s important not to put pressure on yourself. I’m a similar situation with my marathon, training is going well, I’m on target, but I sometimes wonder what may happen in those last 5-10km. Will I be able to maintain pace. When those thoughts enter my head I just switch them off now, I’m going to worry about them when the time comes. I know the first 15 miles or so will be comfortable, so I’ll enjoy them and worry about the rest when I’m the moment, and that’s the best advice I can give you. If you feel a little bit of pressure, or anxiety, just remind yourself to worry about it when the time comes. What you don’t want to happen is get in your own head and not achieve your goals simply by talking yourself out of them. You can do it, you’ve proven that in the last few races, keep up the training and worry about the sub 2 when the time comes.
