Plan 3 – Week 11

Sorry late feedback. I switched out of the page originally to check a number and then lost it all as you can’t do that!

I didn’t Bimble last week as had a sore throat and bad chest/cold. Saved myself for Sunday.

HHM was just lovely! All the great stuff with the support and the crowd. I was really nervous. I really wanted sub 2:30 and to beat previous time. I ran with Su and Sue as Sue said she was just doing it for fun and would pace me. I ran most of it feeling so good. I thought of all the things we do at efforts and strides and reminded myself of the best form. It helped so much! Legs felt capable too. It was an effort at times but not painful or awful. I loved it! Felt sick on the Ridge and nurse Su said my heart rate was really high -but it always is! I don’t think I I’ve found the right fuel. I don’t like mint cake or gels so had sweets. Big mistake!  Hitting the downward bit at London Rd became a bit difficult to lift legs and by the seafront I’d hit a wall! I felt really sick like I could throw up.

Su and Sue were amazing. Boosting, encouraging and motivating through the tough bit. Then we saw Jodie supporting at the pier and she was so lovely, running alongside me, constant words of encouragement and support.  I think that’s really special, having such fabulous friends who do that. That sums up why I love running and PB / HR team! I didn’t make sub 2:30 but I did shave a couple of minutes of precious time at least. Most importantly I ran well (for me!) . I know that a half marathon is small compared to long ultras and marathons but this felt like a huge effort for me and I was chuffed. In this photo apart from the fabulous matching shirt and synchronised legs, Sunis holding my hand and keeping me going ❤️ really touching .

COACH

Of all of the feedback I’ve read this week, this is my favourite because it epitomises what the running community and Team Orange is all about 🥺 And I can relate because when it got tough for me on Sunday, I just remembered all the good luck messages I received and that kept me going, I felt like I wasn’t just running for myself, but for the Team. I’m so pleased you enjoyed it so much and I don’t think you should ever undersell a half marathon. You’ve still run for over 2 hours and 30 minutes which is a long time and should be super proud of your achievements. Given the challengers you have with work and the lack of availability to still be able to do this, is a real sign of strength and determination from within. I’m proud of every one of my team, whether if be a 2:56 marathon or 2:33 half marathon, it really doesn’t matter. It’s the fact you keep showing up, working hard and being the best version of yourself. It’s also great to hear the stuff we work on at efforts does help too, so thank you for mentioning that. Awesome work Lou!!!
