Hastings Runners Handicap 5K

LOAD: 30

2km WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)
8 x 100 Metres Strides (RPE: 8)

5km @ 5k Pace (RPE: 7-9)

2km CD @ East Pace (RPE: 3)

So important to know your 5k pace and stick to that at the start. The temptation is to go off too fast and try to catch people up quickly, don’t. Keep it consistent, trust your pacing and then in that final km you’ll start to catch those that have made that mistake.

Pacing. Pacing. Pacing. So important here. Ignore the others. They’ll all go off like lunatics. You’ve got your bit of paper, you know what pace to do, stick with and trust that come the end of this race you’ll be catching up those ahead. Very best of luck Sue.

FEEDBACK

ENJOYMENT

RPE

😁 Good pace given the conditions/route

PACE

I am reasonably happy with my time tonight. My pace should have been 9:00 according to my plan. I achieved 9:04, finished in 28:06 Didn’t find it easy but better than Sunday. Thanks for all your work on the handicapping ( is that even a word?) on this race. Strides also done ✔️

Well done Sue, another strong race. I think given how well I know most of the members from my coaching, the handicapping is actually not very time consuming, but don’t tell anyone else that. Jax and I originally went through it on the train from Ore to Eastbourne and by the time we got off we only had a dozen names left to do, albeit they were the were the tricky ones. Not to blow my own trumpet too much but here were a few there, had we now spotted their false times, it would have been a non event without us changing them.
