Really sorry things didn’t work out at the HHM. You’ve not had much luck with that race, but I really feel like you’ve been running well lately and for me I still think you have the potential to run some very good times in the future, whether that be half marathons or even full marathons.
So we just need to keep the good habits and consistency with the training over the winter months. I think for you, routine is very important, turning up to the same sessions each week and running with others.
So I’ve made sure for the next 12 weeks we stick to that consistent routine. Intervals on Tuesday with the Team, 60 mins with Hastings Runners on the Wednesday, the occasional Friday run (only 2 in the plan) and the Sunday long run.
Keep showing up, keep ticking off the miles and you will continue to improve. The S&C is also important. I know it can be a pain from time to time and not much fun, but that little extra can make all the difference.
It’s also important as we get older, just for the simple things. If we do 30 mins of strength work a week it’s going to really help you overall well being going forward, not just for running. So stick with it.
I’ve put a few races in the plan, but they’re not that important, if you want to mix things up then you can, and we can always add a few extra races in there if need be.
Delighted that you are staying on the team. Any questions of problems with the schedule just ask, and if you can find the time for the feedback, even if it’s just to say “Done” or “Shit run” 😂 it keeps me more in the loop.
