Not in a great headspace today. Some personal challenges so didn’t want to do it. The wind then absolutely battered me for the first 3 miles and my legs faded towards the end of the 10k paced mile and there was no way I could hit my 5k target.

But you did!! And mental strength as a runner is so key. There’s going to many times in a race, especially deep in a marathon or a half where you won’t want to keep pushing, but the more often you overcome that headspace in training the easier it will be to do that on race day. These sessions are tough solo in truth, especially given the conditions, as long as the effort was there, that’s the main thing. Not every session is going to go great. So really well done Danny!! Hope you feel better soon. Also whilst I’m only a running coach, I’m always here to listen as well. I’m not in a position to offer great advice, but appreciate sometimes sharing can help and anything you tell me is obviously confidential. Trust me I’ve heard a lot of things already in my coaching journey whether it be mental or physical obstacles.
