I really like this plan. I’ve listened to what you’ve said as well about focusing on the parkrun times for a bit so the first 7 weeks are packed with quick parkruns.
If you want to do the interval sessions with the group that’s fine. As long as you let me know afterwards what the session was, I can then see if we need to change the time you run for on the Thursday.
But to begin with, it’s a simple repetitive plan. Efforts on a Tuesday, Run Club on a Thursday, parkrun on a Saturday. Then as we head into the new year that’s when we start to turn the focus towards Paris.
So for now we can just put that at the back of our minds and focus on the speed work and hopefully bringing that parkrun time down before the year is out.
It’s not as easy for me to coach yourself and Andy as it with the runners that are local. Simply because I have that personal connection with those guys and feel like coaching them in person helps me get a better understanding of what makes them tick.
But we can compensate for that slightly by offering more feedback. Tell me how you feel. Be honest. You wouldn’t believe the stuff I have heard in the past. Menopausal women in particular seem happy to share pretty much all their problems 🤦♂️😂
I really want to help you and I believe you have huge potential to improve. But for me to be able to do that, the more feedback you can offer, and the more you can be honest and open, the better.
So that’s what I would ask in return. But I believe if you keep turning up to those sessions, regardless of the weather (I appreciate it’s not easy at this time of year), then I think you will make that progress.
As for the points system. It’s almost like a game. Pts = Prizes. In our case as runners, prizes are improved fitness, shiny medals and hopefully PBs.
You’ve got the opportunity to do something pretty special over the next 6 months. Hopefully I can support you on that journey and combine the running with the pilates, circuits, some good nutrition and plenty of sleep and you will amazed at what you can achieve.
Believe in yourself and let’s go smash it. Paris, nous arrivons pour vous!!!
