I ran a marathon! And not only that, it felt great! I had the best time out there. The scariest bit was around km 12 when I accidentally chugged some electrolytes and got a stitch, but thankfully it settled down after about 10 minutes. I was so nervous about the wind but followed your advice about tucking into a pack which helped hugely. Apart from that final windy section at around km 38 – 40 where the runners were sparse, that was absolutely brutal! The final stretch down the sea front was just incredible and seeing the finish line in sight and thinking “oh my god already?” was just the best feeling. Without coaching I think it would have been a totally different experience. Well, I probably wouldn’t have made it to the start line injury free to begin with. But all the tips about pacing, maintaining form, fuelling etc etc, all combined for a great experience. And today the bit that hurts the most is my feet but in a blistered way not a torn ligament way so I’ll take that! All in all I’m absolutely delighted. THANK YOU 🙏🏻
You always hear this stat about 1% of the population have ran a marathon. Well how many of them run the perfect marathon at their first attempt? You must be a in 0.01% of the population if you factor that in. So impressed with your performance and equally just really happy you had such a good time. That’s a life long memory right there and no one can ever take that away from you. I hope you are really proud of what you have achieved? You should be. Fantastic running Lucy. I’m excited to see what you can do next. Bonus pts this week for just being such a legend (couldn’t have you missing out on the 100% club, that would have been harsh)
