I’ve switched out one of the easy run for the elliptical, just to give the foot a bit more rest, especially with the Pier to Pier coming up. Monday track. Wednesday Horntye? Saturday a session which is designed with the P2P in mind. It will be a good test of the foot to see if it’s ok for next weeks run. Any questions or issues with the plan, let me know. You got this Jodie ๐Ÿ’ช

It all depends on the nature of the session as to how hard you want to work. The longer the reps, the slightly slower the pace will be. Or if doing hills, focus on RPE rather than pace. But you always want to be working hard to ensure you make the necessary gains.

Feeling like that was paced perfectly. Happy with that! 8 mins – 7.44 6 mins – 7.36 4 mins – 7.10 2 mins – 6.44/6.45 1 min – 6.08/5.58
That is a really well executed session. Love those splits. Sorry didn’t really get the opportunity to say hi, but nice for you have that company and run with Jess, that can definitely help. Great stuff Jodie. An excellent start to the new week.

I’ve added in a few exercises so we cover all the fundamental movement patterns (push, pull, squat, lunge, rotate, hinge) and calf raises were the key running exercise that was missing.

Good gym session despite the gym being the temperature of hell ๐Ÿฅต
Crikey, yeah I imagine if there is no air con it’s not going to be particularly nice in there. But really well done for getting it completed ๐Ÿ’ช Loving the consistency with these now.

Zone 2-3: Easy/Steady

Likely your heart rate will climb as you run up the hills, so don’t worry too much about drifting into Zone 3 for the hills, try and keep the rest in Zone 2.

Felt the foot today but it was manageable. Bit of a HR battle because of the heat but enjoyed it and just walked for a few seconds to keep it below 150
Perfect. To be honest if you can get your HR in the top end of that Z2 you’re going get the most benefit from an easy run and I like it, it gives the easy runs a bit more of a purpose. Sorry to hear the foot is giving you a little bit of pain. If you can keep doing the exercises and ice bottle rolling, they really will make a big difference.

Zone 2: Easy

A good way to boost cardio whilst reducing the risk of injury. To get your heart rate into zone 2 you’ll probably find you need to work quite hard but that’s a good thing.

Zwift was the chosen workout today! I donโ€™t understand any of the data for cycling like watts etc but I know my HR stayed below 150 ๐Ÿ˜…
Perfect, happy if you want to use zwift and the bike instead? I think it’;s smart, still get that z2 aerobic work but without damaging the foot. I’m amazed how well I am running off 2-3 runs per week. But I do work very hard on the stair climber in between ๐Ÿ˜‚ Great work Jodie.

A total of 13 miles, so you cover the distance of a half marathon, but only 6 of those miles are at your target pace. A good chance to get some miles in at goal pace. Adds some variety to your long run as well. If the route isn’t flat or conditions are challenging focus on RPE over pace. It’s not always essential to hit goal pace in these sessions. Obviously into a strong headwind you will be slower.

I done this on Sunday as I had a spa day on Saturday all day! ๐Ÿง–โ€โ™€๏ธ A great session. Went into thinking it iโ€™ve basically just got 6 hard miles which helped my mindset a lot. Actually ran the fast miles quicker than anticipated but felt strong throughout
Loving those splits, hit some really good paces there. Glad you enjoyed it too. I think doing sessions like this can make the traditional long run so much more enjoyable and beneficial for our fitness. And always nice to do it along the seafront at the weekend with so many runners out. Awesome work Jodie. A great way to finish the week.
