If you’re not coaching, perhaps an opportunity to run at track Monday. Normally the Sunday long run means that is not an option, but having not run at the weekend you could make the most of that opportunity if you wanted? The long runs are only going to get longer from here on in I am afraid, but take your time, more about time on feet than pace.

20 x 60 Secs (60s Rest)

Zone 7: 3k

10 Mins CD

Zone 2: Easy

Don’t go off too fast as 20 reps is a lot. RPE towards the end of each rep should be a 9 and pace will be towards the lower end or just under your 3k targets. Consistency is the key.

Session done Monday evening. After the weekend working through my body checking what it was doing. Was also thinking about which energy system i was using. I doing a yoga class with Sue Palmer today as she doing an extra one in the park. Hopefully with stairmaster Monday & yoga I made up for missing fitball. Hard to get a steady pace as was weaving in & out of dog walkers.

60 Mins & Strides

60 Mins Run

Zone 2: Easy

8 x 100 Meter Strides

Zone 7: 3K

If you have an accurate heart rate, then use that as your main data to determine pace, if not RPE is the best option. Hills are always going to cause them to go too high, unless you are super fit. Finish off with some strides.

All about time on feet. Don’t focus on pace. Instead keep that effort level down and concentrate on good running economy. Fuelling and hydration key too.
