I don’t feel like we need to change much. You’ve done great and I appreciate that for yourself with two young children and a full time job, the availability and flexibility that a lot of the team have, just isn’t there.
So it’s a case of making the best use of those slots where you can schedule in your running. So sticking with the Thursday bimble as your easy run with Strides included. Then we can try and make better use of parkrun, and add a bit of variety and the odd challenge.
Then Sunday long runs we will alternate between easy 2 hours and some intervals. I’ll try and match them with others on the team so you don’t have to do them on your own.
That combined with the Monday class is certainly enough the keep making some gains and the fact you’re enjoying it and running regularly is ultimately the most important thing.
For the Great South Run I think a target of under 1:35 is certainly achievable and would require an average pace of 9:30. So that’s a lovely round number and something we can work with in training to push that little bit harder.
I’ve pencilled in a few additional races as well including the Rye to Hastings, Winter 5K and Beckley 10K. Other good events you might want to consider are the Rye Ancient Trails 15K and the Battle 10K, both early September so only a few weeks away. We could fit both of them in the plan quite easily.
I like the plan, I like the consistency, I love the fact you’re enjoying running and being part of the team. For me that’s what matters the most, beyond and above achieving new PBs.
