COACH SUMMARY

So 20 weeks takes us through to the Great North Run. It’s meant to be right. To touched on sub 2. I plugged your 5k PB into my pace sheet and you know what it came back with? 2:00:08!! So whilst you might not be in that condition right now, that was a time you achieved when we were working together and I think you can get back there.

So it suggests a sub 2 is on. Could we achieve it in 20 weeks? Maybe. It all depends how much you want it and how hard you want to work.

That said my plans will always be quality over quantity and 4 runs is plenty. I really like this plan, you’ve got loads of variety, so many good sessions to look forward too.

Half marathon pace is my favourite to train at and some of the sessions in there are beauts.

I’ve made sure parkrun is there pretty much every week along with Run Club on Thursdays. I’ve also added some stretching. I moved Pilates to Thursday simply so you had 2 rest days, but happy if you want to switch it back to Mondays. It’s still kind of a rest day if only doing Pilates.

With an average points of 125 the target is higher (you averaged 118 in the last plan) and that should ensure if all goes well then you will make further progress.

I think combined with good recovery and nutrition your best running is definitely ahead of you and no reason this block can’t be your best yet.

Keep the easy runs easy, work hard in the sessions and you can do some serious damage here. The motivation should be seeing 1:59:?? on the watch when you cross that finish line in September. It’s possible and setting high goals can keep us positive to get out that front door and run well.

SHORT TERM GOALS

Improve Speed

Id like to slowly build my speed back up, particularly over 10k, 10miles and 1/2 marathon distance. But also want to feel more comfortable running, so that I can hold a pace steadily.

LONG TERM GOALS

Great North Run

I think id like to do a marathon again. But not until ive got faster. I.e. comfortably under 5hrs.
Also want to get more into shape and feel ‘lighter’ on my feet.
Also steadily improving 10k, 10mile 1/2 times, as above.
By end of the year, sub 55min 10k, and close to a 2hr, 1/2 would be good
