COACH SUMMARY

Plan number 5! Av it. That’s great and so pleased you are keen to stay on the team and work with me.

Obviously this is a big one. 100k is some serious shit and we only have 22 weeks. It’s important therefore that we try and hit the ground running.

I’ve stuck to the routine that has generally work so well for you. I think keeping some speed work in there is important so you don’t just become a plodder and do only easy runs.

The Wednesday and Friday runs remain so you can join the group. Then Sunday is reserved for the long run. Obviously that will be the key and I’ve set it to miles as I know you prefer that.

If Saturday’s is ever an option we could introduce some back to back long runs, as that has worked well for my other ultra runners on the team, but I appreciate work might make an issue.

Looking at the schedule I also think it would be good to do a marathon before the Fox Ultra. It doesn’t have to be a race if you wanted to do it as part of a Sunday easy run, but a race just makes it that bit easier from a mental perspective.

The one Marathon I found which could be good and is the right day is Shakespeare Marathon in Stratford Upon Avon. I’ve done it in the past (half marathon) and it’s a lovely place to visit for a weekend.

The marathon is a two lapper though, but nice and flat. And alternative is the Tissington Trail Marathon. That’s a nice work race, but even further to travel. But that also falls on the right date from a training point of view. But happy to discuss.
