I think this is the most excited I’ve been writing a plan. I really feel this could take you to the next level in terms of your running.
There’s always going to be doubt and nerves about a 100k event. But you’ve done it before and I honestly believe this time you’ll arrive lighter and stronger than ever, and that is going to make such a difference.
The addition of the gym work is fab. I’ll put sessions in there, but you can mix them up and do exercises or machines which you enjoy, but the general set up is good.
I’ve put Tuesdays in there from week 4 onwards, I just want to be sure we don’t push too hard too soon with the leg, so we’ll build towards those, and then it will be your normal long runs, building slowly.
All that hard work you’ve done in the past will still count, so don’t feel that is lost, it’s not. The Amble will be huge and a great prep run too. It’s always going to be a leap of faith on the day, but if you push too hard in training or do too long a run in the build up, the risk of injury is to high.
In terms of training pts, this is definitely a step up as you were averaging around 100 before, this goes up to 120. There’s still scope to go higher to be honest. I hit about 140 and only run 3 times a week, so we can see how things progress.
Great to have you back on board and so excited to see how this 16 week plan pans out. Let’s do this.
