COACHES NOTES

The Bedgebury Half Marathon is a local race which I’ve yet to compete in myself. In fact, whisper this quietly, I’ve still yet to take part in any race (including park run) at Bedgebury. 🙄

The narrow Woodland Trails can be challenging but I’ve heard great things about the route and it’s traffic free which is an obvious bonus. Car parking is included in your entry fee which is a real bonus as it’s not cheap to park there.

It is an undulating route with a total of 339 metres of climb. The most challenging of those hills come at 4 miles and 10 miles. There is also an uphill finish which is never ideal.

If you like the trails then this is certainly a race to consider. Not one to target a PB on, but you should really enjoy running in such a lovely location (from what I’ve been told).

As with any race of this distance though, be sure to pace yourself from the start, especially with some tough climbs. Make sure you don’t set off too quickly and run out of energy before the end of the route.
