COACHES NOTES

The Benidorm Half Marathon is an excellent opportunity to leave the colder days of the UK behind and get some early winter sunshine on your back. The race actually starts in the evening at 5:30pm to ensure it takes place when the temperature is cooling. That said, still be prepared for warmer weather than you’d expect in the UK.

The route is relatively flat with some downhill near the beginning and the most challenging section a slight incline from around 10km – 12km. But with a total elevation of just 98 metres this is an opportunity to run a fast time.

There is water on the course at km 5, 11 and 15, with more water handed out at the finish line. As with any half marathon, try to keep your pace steady for the first 5km, then get into the rhythm and goal pace between kms 5-16, saving some energy for a strong finish.
