Berlin is one of the 6 Major marathons. It’s regarded as one of the flattest routes of any marathon with only 73 metres of elevation. This is where the current World Record was set.
It’s not a race I’ve been fortunate to participate in myself but having read the reviews it seems like an excellent event and well organised.
For a major city marathon it’s likely the crowds will be large and the support en route should be excellent. As with any major marathon there is the danger it could be very crowded at the start so just factor that in to your pace strategy.
All marathons are very tough so pacing yourself from the start and making sure you save energy for those final 6 miles is crucial. This takes place in late September so the weather can be varied. If it’s warm as is forecast for 2023 just be sure to take enough water with you.
Make sure you’ve got fuel with you. Most important aspect, enjoy the day! What a fantastic race to be part of.
