The Headcorn Half Marathon is relatively local event to me (60 mins drive) but not one I’ve yet had the pleasure of running. I believe that’s largely due to it clashing with the Hastings Runners Pier to Pier race.
Based on the route information I’ve seen it would appear the most challenging inclines come around 8.5-10 miles, with several hills to conquer. But with a total elevation of less than 100 metres this is a certainly a pretty fast and flat course.
It’s also quite early in the season compared to other spring races so possible a potential warm up race for those of you looking to achieve a specific time in one of the more high profile March events.
The race is organised by Running & Riding and their events tend to be quite low key and the field size in 2023 was just 245 runners, that’s less than Hastings parkrun.
The route takes in the local country lanes and has been compared to Paddock Wood. All finishes will receive a race medal for your efforts.
