COACHES NOTES

The Sussex Downs Trail Run is an event organised by Run Rebel and due to take place on Saturday 2nd December 2023. It starts at Plumpton Racecourse and takes in the surrounding trails including the South Downs Way.

This is a not a race I’ve completed myself, but it does look very interesting with some breathtaking views once you reach the summit of the South Downs Way. It’s just getting there that is the problem.

The first 3.5km of the race is flat and through a tree lined section, giving you the chance to warm up those legs before the challenge ahead. Looking at the route map there appear to be 4 climbs in total, 2 very tough hills.

The total elevation exceeds 434 metres. The final 3 km of the half marathon distance is flat so you have that to look forward to. Good luck to those running, especially Team Orange member Kelly.
