Well as you know I got myself a PB beating a time I set in November 2019 at the Poppy 10k on Bexhill seafront. You ran it so you know the conditions, warm 🥵 but I hung in there and kept going. As in any race it took a while to settle into a nice rhythm and surprisingly the slope just after we came off the seafront took it out of me more than I expected but once over that I settled into a more comfortable pace. No real problems after that but I was pleased to see the finish line. This was the longest proper race for me post op apart from Robertsbridge 10k but you can’t compare the two really. Overall I’m very happy, yes I should have found that final sprint which may have got me under 50 mins but I’m honestly not in anyway disappointed with my performance.
Don’t worry about the final sprint. If it’s not there it means you’ve worked hard during the race and go the best out of it. Plus it means the sub 50 can be enjoyed and saved for another day.
A PB is amazing. Especially to come back from the time out you had and run your quickest EVER 10K. That’s special and I’m sure it will inspire other runners that they too can keep improving.
I’m so pleased for you and hopefully and give you that confidence and also determination to keep training smart and get that 5k time too. Superb. Well done Andy!
