Post RACE

Completed
Didn’t go into this with any goals or expectations and really lucky with the weather compared to yesterday. I remembered soon after starting the bit I don’t like about this .. trail shoes! Not enough cushioning for my delicate feet 😂 They started aching after about 5 miles and still ache now 6 hours later! It was tough, mud, puddles and no cooling breeze. Walked a lot of the hills and settled on a relatively easy overall pace ( 10.13 ) Finished in 2.13.30 which I’m really pleased with as I think really I should have left more time between this and the Royal Parks. Might have to give it a couple of days recovery but if I don’t do Tuesday I’ll do it by myself hopefully on Wednesday 🤞

I must admit I once bought a pair of trail shoes, tried them on and thought to myself “what the hell are these monstrosities” They were quickly returned. I think going forward when entering races just consider the recovery time between them, as you mentioned a couple of halfs in several weeks does have the ability to take it’s toll. That said, awesome work, on that course it’s a great time and sounds like you enjoyed it. Well done Andy.
