What a day! Very happy with the result as although I was5 minutes slower than the last time I did it two years ago, it was still my fastest half post op and under two hours by a decent chunk which is what my goal was. I lost sight of you fairly early on but I intended to run my own race and that strategy worked. It was a tough one but if it had been easy then I wouldn’t have been trying hard enough. I maybe could have pushed a bit harder on Queensway but decided to stay with Rachael as she was struggling with her breathing and I hopefully encouraged her a bit on her way to her good time. After struggling and losing a lot of places coming down from the cone and then down into the Old Town the clock at mile ten lifted my spirits immensely when I knew I only had to do a thirty minute Parkrun to get under the two hours. The wind wasn’t pleasant on the seafront but managed to dig deep and hold out for a 1.56.37 chip time. All round, not a bad day at the office, thanks for your help and support.
So pleased to hear you had a good experience and this is a really excellent time, you should be proud of your efforts. There have been some really positive signs again in the last few weeks which is great after a few hiccups with injuries and illness. Always a pleasure to work and train with you Andy. I know you’ve been on the team and a plan for a long time now so I think a minimum of 2 weeks off just to reset would be good advice and then just have a think where you want to go from there. Always happy to discuss new goals etc without any pressure to commit to further plans.
