Post RACE

Completed
Only did the one run on holiday as it was way too hot so this was the first run for 9 days. After the usual Robertsbridge start/stop/start again I was really pleased with my first lap with only a very short walk on the farmyard hill. From there on shall we say it got interesting ๐Ÿ˜‚ I should have used sense and used the toilet on the way past at the end of the first lap but for some reason unknown to my self I didnโ€™t ๐Ÿ˜‚ Anyway, by the time I got to the end of the footpath and turning onto Brightling Rd the choice was either turn left, call it a day and walk back or carry on up the hill and find a solution. Up the hill I went with no option but to walk otherwise it would have got messy ๐Ÿ˜‚ up the hill, down the next footpath and through the farmyard onto the next hill was all walked with lots of people passing and asking if I was ok. Yes, I answered with clenched cheeks ๐Ÿ˜‚ Halfway up the steep hill I asked a woman from the Bruderhof if there happened to be a toilet near that I could use and bingo, there was one and only 20 yds from there ๐Ÿ‘ A few minutes later rested and reinvigorated away we went .. flying, the last mile was my quickest of the whole race and I felt really good and enjoyed watching peopleโ€™s faces trying to work out where Iโ€™d been and why I was running that fast that far back in the pack ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Always enjoy this race but definitely wonโ€™t forget this year ๐Ÿ˜‚ Didnโ€™t stop Garmin while stopped the time and pace not accurate.

Ha Ha. Thanks for sharing. Love this feedback. As you say you’ll now remember this race far more than if you’d gone out and run your normal 10k speed/effort. I’ve had all sorts of problems of evening runs of late and I put it down to eating too much at lunch. I’ve been fortunate that the two times it’s happened on HR Wednesday’s runs we were near right near Morrisons and then close to home. The one thing those two runs had in common too were hills. I definitely think they can upset the stomach. All in all though a great tale to tell and as you say the others must have been dumfounded by where you came from. It happened once in Hastings Half. Richard Cross, a Hastings Runner had his son in law Todd come flying past him up Queensway, much to his frustration. 15 mins later by the Shell Garage the same thing happened again, Todd came bombing past him. He had no idea what was happening. But we both know. Apparently he’d dashed into the hospital to use their facilities ๐Ÿ˜‚
