This was a really tough one for me. Never had such a bad case of nerves before, that along with my stomach already playing up and it was a hard slog the whole way round. Was so blooming hot too and completely out in the open. Once again I started off too fast, I can see now if I didn’t set off so quick I’d not lose my momentum so much, trying to maintain the pace was hard, about 6/7k I totally went slow. Need to work on my set off more. I think I would have hit 8.55 if I had.
Still it was a PB even if it was only 13 seconds AND on my nemesis race! So I can’t complain too much.
Sideline that made it an evening better race for me I beat my 20 year old son by a whole 5 minutes!
That’s a huge win right? Hopefully he’s inspired by seeing your dedication to your own fitness.
Congratulations on the PB. What I like about this feedback as the coach is how much potential there is for further improvement based on what you’ve written. You’ve understood where you went wrong and what you can do better going forward. Which is a huge positive.
Had you said I ran a 13 second PB and the race went perfectly then I would have been less excited.
Lots to take away from this run, and whilst it was hard you ended up with your PB and beat your son, so looking back it should always give you good memories.
Plus you didn’t mention your ankles once.
