Well that was fun! Super chuffed with the time. I felt good for the first k, coming in slightly under the 6.20 target and was able to keep up with Jo. 2nd k, I felt was going to fast (to be able to last) so slowed down a tad and was still in range of the 31:20 target. Reached half way and still felt strong, when the legs got tired I kept the arms going and then the legs picked up the cadence again. With about 2k to go, I looked at my watch seeing I was averaging under 6mins I thought 31 minutes was possible so kept pushing. Got to 500m to go and it was really tough to keep up the cadence but just focused on the person in front and trying to catch them. Then saw I was on for a sub 30 and thought I’m not giving this one up!! Chuffed! Didn’t set out for a sub 30 but felt good. The long runs have really helped for stamina. I had intended to use the metronome app at about 176 but the start took me by surprise and I didn’t get a chance to start it! The run demonstrates the plan is working so what’s the next goal… do you think sub 29 is possible???

Amazing! What a fantastic performance. Well done Rebecca. Although you’re not supposed to achieve your goal this early in the plan 😂 That’s ok, we can look to reassess the goals going forward and come up with another milestone to work towards. The feedback is great as shows that you were focused on all the right things, cadence, your arms, digging deep when it was tough, catching that person in front. A perfectly executed race and the result was a new PB. Lots of positives to take going forward and definitely a race to remember and how you executed it so well. I’ll drop you a message in the next day or two to discuss what we aim for next.
