I’ll be honest, I’m glad to see the back of August. Holidays, injuries and illness have proved a bit of a headache for many of the Team in recent weeks and it’s a reminder that even the best laid plans rarely go smoothly.
When these disruptions come along the best thing you can do is adapt and get back on track as soon as possible.
I struggled last week, I had to miss both S&C sessions, cut my long run short and ditch two runs with my on-going hip problem flaring up. It happens, but each Monday we have that opportunity to start afresh.
I’d like to welcome our newest member Debbie Clark who begins her first training plan today. Her long term goal is to complete the Hastings Half Marathon next April but to do so much more comfortably than previous years.
We had 7 of the team gather on Battle High Street to tackle the undulating BBB10k. A massive shout out to Jan Young who knocked 2 minutes and 30 seconds off her time from last year and with it landed her Age Category award.
Jan is coming to the conclusion of her plan this week and has shown real consistency with her training, adding efforts and strength work. I’m delighted that hard work paid off with a brilliant run yesterday.
I think the rest of us could argue that preparation heading into this race wasn’t ideal. But don’t fret, it wasn’t a goal race for any of us, so it’s all about digging deep when we are not feeling 100% and the improvement will continue to happen.
Sue Wilkinson and Alison Anderson both braved the capital & took part in the Big Half. It’s part of their marathon training and they’ve been doing so well in recent months, smashing out the mileage each week.
I was so pleased that both Sue & Alison were able to enjoy such a fantastic event and come home feeling proud of both their effort and time.
Marie Crawford took part in a handicap race on Sunday and actually won! Marie is one of the longest standing members of the team and has been really enjoying her running and racing this year. To land a prize like this is no more than she deserves for her consistency week in week out.
