Heathfield 10K

LOAD: 40

2km WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

10k @ 10k Pace (RPE: 6-9)

2km CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

I’ve not done this before but it’s part of the SGP. 220 metres of elevation. Downhill for 5k, uphill for the next 5k. CLICK HERE to view the route.

Come the hill, remind yourself of the 8 x 2 mins session we did and just tell yourself, I’m stronger uphill as a result and that should give you some confidence. No target times here given the route, but what I would say is don’t go too fast down the hill as you’ll need to conserve energy for the climb back up. Good luck Sue. Enjoy.

I got a silver medal yay! 1hr 3 minutes so not the quickest. Pace under 10 until I hit mile 5 and 6 then it all went wrong! Elevation according to my watch 568 ⬆️ and 554 ⬇️ Stride length .92 which I’m ok with as the road was uneven on the downhills at times. All in all, with the heat and the hills & that I was running mostly on my own, I’m happy with what I achieved.

Really well done Sue. Silver medal is awesome. It’s a tough race that one, especially towards the end, so every reason to be happy with your achievements here. And with that high effort level it will have improved the fitness as well, which is also great.
