A good session to practice goal pace. Likely to be one of the biggest sessions in your half marathon training plan.

Important session, last chance to practice half marathon pace ahead of the Great North Run. Saturday morning would be good if you are free? That way you could do the first two 5km blocks from around 8am then join in with parkrun for the last 5km block. That’s going to be the hardest part, so having other runners around you will make a big difference and give you that race feel.

A tough session which I thought I might struggle with, but overall thought it went OK. Was pleased with the final 5km parkrun block as felt pretty comfortable and certainly helped being amongst other runners.

So impressed with your pace in that final 5km and it’s important to remember that going forward. If you ever struggle to hit goal pace in a session, especially if running solo, just remind yourself how much easier it feels running in a group. Superb work Karl and a really promising sign for the Great North Run.
