10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

10Km @ 10k Adj Pace (RPE: 7)

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

There are 3 sections to this race. Kms 1-3 mainly downhill and flat. You’ll be under goal pace but be sure not to go too fast, you’ll need to conserve energy for the hills between 4-6km. This is when you’ll be working really hard, but dig deep, once you reach the main road it gets easier and you’ll get a 2nd wind.

The final stretch is flat, but still a grind. The finish down the high street is the best part so try and save some energy for a strong finish.

😁 Good pace given the conditions/route

I found this tough and was 10/10 effort, I really pushed myself. I find it difficult racing if I spend the race with a cycle of overtaking others, then being overtaken by the same people! I expect they feel the same. Suddenly felt strong on the Catsfield road so made a break and pushed ahead. Towards the end though was walk/run as run out of energy but lots of encouragement from Rachel and we had a final sprint at the end. Pleased with my time for this route – a PB. Was 1:20:22 in 2023 ( no race 2024 ) This year 1: 15:30 chip time.

That’s a big improvement on 2023, and shows you’re still running really well, despite only just getting back on the plan. Well done for putting that effort in too, especially on a hot day with those hills. That’s all we can ever really ask from ourselves to give it our best effort. So very pleased. The fitness will come back if you stick to the plan and those improvements in your time should follow. Well done Ellie. Nice to see Matthew afterwards as well.
