I think there’s reason to be concerned about the short term issue. But I wouldn’t make any long term assumptions. Look at Sarah Marzaoili, she didn’t even start running into her 50s and has achieved so much.
From all the information and feedback you’ve given me, my advice would be to take a step back. Get some level of diagnosis that you are happy with and then rebuild from there.
Yes it’s likely to set you back short term but we are coming to the end of this race season anyway. I think being stubborn and just trying to keep ploughing on, is only going to make things worse.
If you are enjoy being part of the team and working with myself, that doesn’t need to stop but what we need is an opinion from someone with more expertise that can guide you on what’s best right now. Whether it be rest, running for less time, or doing different gym work.
There’s the famous quote “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” It kind of feels like that has been the approach of late and it’s not working. So taking a step back might be sensible, however you will need a physio to advise you on the best approach short term, when it comes to how much rest/work you should be doing.
