Crowborough 10K

LOAD: 410

Not a race I’ve yet to compete in and judging by the route map and previous runners comments I’m not sure I have ambitions to participate in any hurry. This is a two lap course with one very challenging hill.

That comes around the halfway point of each lap and is best described as brutal. If you’re looking for a 10k PB then look elsewhere, but this could be a very good training run and a nice replacement for a hill session.

As with any race, get there in plenty of time and make sure you do an extensive warm up, including 10 minutes jogging, some dynamic stretches and some running drills. Finish the race with a light cool down jog and some static stretches.

Good luck, you might need it.

Not a race for chasing PBs with a very steep hill, which you have to run twice.

Very tough race this one so be determined and dig deep when it gets tough. Focus on good form up the hills, knowing you have an advantage other those around you who are running slouched.

No targets due to the difficulty of the course.

Had to confess I did walk the most sheepish part of the hill. So did everyone round me. Once I got to a slightly less steep part I ran with no problems. I was slightly faster than Battle 10k. Over 5 min faster than Heathfield 10k so feeling positive p Was hoping for under 1.10.00 chip time which I just achieved. Felt I had good pace on the flat. Worked on form and relaxing shoulders. I realise I now need to be aware of form when I pushing up hill. Suddenly realise I was tensing up with head down. So corrected it

Well done Sue. No worries about the hill. I think the majority of the field would have walked the toughest part. But great to hear you are focusing on correct form at the right points of a race. Lots of positives to take from this.
