Hastings 5 Miler

LOAD: 380

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

5 Miles @ 5 Mile Pace (RPE: 5-9)

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

5 miles is a really tough distance to get right. Rest assured, this is tough. The first mile is so important, don’t go off too quick and you’ll set yourself up for a strong race.

My trusty pace sheet is saying 8:50 pace for 44:12. Does that seem fair? Always happy to discuss the targets if need be. It’s the same pace as I’ve set for Sue Wilkinson if you did want to run together. Rebecca Richardson and Lou Cavill just behind and Kirsty Marsden (do you know Kirsty?) is just ahead. So should be a nice pack of you and perhaps a few to beat towards the end. You’re running really well though, so approach this with confidence. As the RPE creeps up try and focus on staying relaxed if you can. I always like the quote “you can only run at your potential if you are relaxed”. It helps remind me to try and relax in those tough moments. Very best of luck Sue.

Firstly massive congratulations on your PB, you must be so happy. I think it’s a PB for me chip time 46:12 , best I can find before is 46.20. You’ve got a place where you can check stats haven’t you? Could I have the link sometime please? I found today tough, not sure why no excuses, I kept with Sue W for just over 3 miles then couldn’t stay with her. I was 10 seconds over your revised mile pace on my Strava, but I ran as fast as I could on the day. I’m disappointed I didn’t run faster as I know I should be able too. To finish on a positive note my stride length was 0.97 so it’s getting better & I’m typing this with a chilled glass of wine in my hand, so not all bad!

Nice way to celebrate. A PB is amazing. I can confirm previous best of 46:20, so that’s fantastic, and in less than ideal conditions as well. Power of 10 is the best site for a record of your times (https://www.thepowerof10.info/athletes/profile.aspx?athleteid=1110346). Nice to hear you’re chilling post race. Well deserved and I’m just pleased you’re running so well at the moment, given the battles you’ve had at times. Congratulations Sue. …..and thank you, couldn’t be happier with my own race.
