Hove 10K

LOAD: 410

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

10k @ 10k Pace (RPE: 6-9)

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

A Sussex Grand Prix race so should attract a strong field. Pretty much dead flat and the main issue will be the wind and how strong it’s blowing. But a good opportunity to run a fast time. As with any 10k, or race in fact, keep an eye on your early pace and don’t go off too fast.

Is this still happening? A few of us are planning on heading over.

It’s a nice flat one so a chance just to switch on the metronome if you wanted and lock into that pace. Should feel comfortable for 3-4km, tough for 2-4km, horrific for 2-4km. That’s how 10ks feel for me 😂

Given how recent weeks have gone, anything 56-58 would be really good and a lot will depend on the weather. If it’s blowy, tuck in behind someone.

That was the windiest blowiest (I know they ain’t real words!) shit ever! I can’t believe any of us run it lol. It was really tough and I totally wasn’t expecting to get any kind of good time but considering the pain I was in (dosed up in pills beforehand) I’m actually a little pleased with how I did. The good news is my Achilles were not that niggly! I know!! My lower back and glutes however were aggravated but I just stuck to the beat of the metronome. I had it at 172 and I’m quite impressed with how consistent my pace and cadence were. It definitely was what go me through it. I was just really focused on matching the beat. Not my best time but considering, I’m not gonna beat myself up for it! I do think I could have gone a bit faster though but I think it was finding that balance of speed against ok Kelly this is too painful now, do you know what I mean? I think any faster and I’d have struggled to finish.

Really well done. Bonkers that weather. Good to have the metronome on and pleased you ran a good race. If you can stick to the beat you should find yours splits will be super consistent, one of the benefits of using it. Sometimes it’s good to run in those conditions as going forward, when it is raining or blowing 20mph we know we’ve run in worst, survived and actually done pretty well. Nothing can stop us getting the miles in now 😂 I’ll put a few ideas in about the back and glutes when I message you later as struggling myself and trying new ways to combat it.
