The forecast does look good so if you do fancy having a crack at a fast time, I wouldn’t say no.

PACE

My target was 8:15 m/m or under 1:50. I went out a bit fast for first mile, but managed to settle in to 8:05 – 8:10 pace. Was regularly checking watch and if I dipped to 8:25 then would make an effort to speed up a bit. Managed to keep it going and although I wouldn’t say I felt strong at the end, I was able to up the pace a bit and the last mile was my fastest. Overall it came in a little short, but would have been under 1:47 so very pleased with that. Fastest Half Marathon for 2 and a half years I think!

Nice. Take that. Quickest half for over 30 months. That’s great. Sounds like you ran a really good race in terms of your pacing and were able to make those adjustments when needed. I think in time hopefully you’ll get more in tune with the pace you are running at so will notice a drop without having to look at the watch. But that just comes down to practicing goal pace which we will do over the coming months. Overall, an excellent result, well done Ben.
