Poppy Half Marathon

LOAD: 700

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

13.1 Miles @ HM Pace (RPE: 5-9)

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

If the weather is good then this out and back loop provides an excellent opportunity to run a fast time. Let’s just hope that wind behaves itself.

No targets here as it’s not a goal race. The most important thing is to enjoy this one.

Well that went better than expected. Didn’t have any particular plans for this one as I hadn’t done it before and to be honest wasn’t looking forward to the laps. First mile I went too fast (8.17) so slowed the next two or three down before settling on a nice comfy pace at around 8.40 to 8.45 for the mid seven miles. Decided all was feeling good and going well when I got to mile eleven so upped the pace a bit and finished strong in 1.51.36. The distance came up slightly short at 12.93 miles but that apart I think that’s a new PB for me 😊

He’s only gone and run a cheeky PB. I wasn’t expecting that. Brilliant result and sometimes this happens when you’ve been training for something else and the expectation is lower. Perhaps we can look to get a sub 1:50 in the Spring if picking the right race? But for now let’s celebrate this. Who cares what Garmin says either. I have to say that after my marathon was 200 metres short in Feb. Seriously though they are never 100% accurate so it’s a race, it counts. Awesome work Andy.
