10 Miles @ HM Pace (RPE: 5-9)

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

With the hills, I’ve found half marathon pace is the best we can hope for here, but obviously that will fluctuate greatly depending on the section you are on. Dig deep up the hills and focus on good form.

Tough race. The best advice I can give here is just set off at a conservative pace. Not that you have much chance given the start is mainly uphill. This isn’t about chasing a time, this is about proving how far you’ve come and that you can beat most of these hills. It won’t be easy but try and embrace that. Use others around you as motivation, remind yourself how well you’ve done and focus on running tall & driving those elbows back up the hills. Even if you can’t get up all the hills, try and be better than those around you by running with good form. I’m sure you’ll notice some slouched shoulders and heads down. Don’t be one of those. Good luck Philippa. Enjoy!

Pretty good run. Pleased with that. Thank you for the support. Body felt good – best run of the last 2/3 weeks. . Apart from a couple of toes on my right foot – not sure what’s wrong with them. I don’t think they are keen on the shoes. Fact for today: Today I went to give blood and was turned away as my haemoglobin level was 107, which is low. This is highly unusual for me. Apparently this can be due to recent exercise i.e. A long run. So, the moral of this story – don’t try and give blood after exercise. Wait a few days. 🙂

Really well done Philippa. So pleased we’ve got this stage where you’re taking part in these long tough races in the HR colours. That makes me very happy. So pleased you really enjoyed it too and every reason to be happy with your performance. You looked really strong when you came past us at the water station. I remember I had my blood tests after going for a run and the doctor called me a few days later panicking because some of my numbers were so low (I hadn’t told him I had run beforehand). But the Iron tablets I got them sped me up a treat.
