Rye 10

LOAD: 600

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

10 Miles @ HM Pace (RPE: 5-9)

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

With the hills, I’ve found half marathon pace is the best we can hope for here, but obviously that will fluctuate greatly depending on the section you are on. Dig deep up the hills and focus on good form.

This should be a really good race for you with your strength on the hills and your endurance. There’s no getting away from how tough it is, and during those really tough moments, just remind yourself of that’s when you really get stronger and fitter, if you keep going when your brain is screaming at you to stop. Don’t worry too much about predicted times and pace, that’s just a rough guess from me. If you can beat it, brilliant, but don’t focus on it too much. Use this as a really good training run.

Brilliant Jo. That’s a tough route so to hear you say you felt strong out there is great news. I really like where you’re at with your running right now. You should be really pleased with your commitment. I think we just need to keep being consistent and making small gains to build towards the marathon. Fabulous running.
