Rye 10

LOAD: 600

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

10 Miles @ HM Pace (RPE: 5-9)

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

With the hills, I’ve found half marathon pace is the best we can hope for here, but obviously that will fluctuate greatly depending on the section you are on. Dig deep up the hills and focus on good form.

Tough race this one and why there are only 2 runs in the plan. We need to respect the difficult of the challenge here and be well rested. Target times are tough here given the route, if you can get close to half marathon pace come the end, you’ve run a really good race. Plus given a target pace is pointless when 90% of the time you’ll be running either quicker down the hills or slower up the hills. I ran by best race here when I tried to keep my RPE consistent, so that meant slowing down up the hills but also pushing the pace on the downhill and the flats. Good luck Sue. Go smash(it).

Well I’m going to ‘own’ this. Firstly I enjoyed it, secondly on checking back on Rye 10 miler results on the Nice Works site this is a course PB by 1:12s. Last time I ran was 2022 and I had a chip time of 1:41:42. Hope I’m right 🤞 I even finished as you asked faster at a 9:17 pace, see I do listen sometimes 😂. Avg Pace 9:59, avg. stride length 0.93m so that’s an improvement on a long run too & 3rd in age category. I also kept shaking my arms out to be less ridged. I was also cheered on by your niece Grace, who was at her Grandparents house!

Hell yeah. So many positives here and lovely to beat those previous best times. 3rd in your age category is another nice bonus, as was seeing Grace. I had know idea she was watching. I probably would have ran if I knew that 🙄 Fantastic effort Sue. Keep that positivity flowing.
