Rye Ancient Trails 15K

LOAD: 500

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

15K @ Target Pace (RPE: 4-8)

A really great event, one of my favourites. And the 15k option is ideal for anyone a little nervous about the full distance. I can highly recommend this.

Quite a few of the team in action here. Keep it steady at the start as there are some hills towards the end. For me it’s important you just enjoy this event. No need to focus on pace or worry about time, just enjoy being part of a great race on some lovely trails.

Average pace takes into account hills, gates. stiles, so likely you’ll be moving quicker (7:00 per km and under) on the flat and road sections.

You can almost treat it as a Sunday long run.

Really enjoyed the race. Sue (Tom) and Kayla were the right pace to we all stuck together and get each other through. We waited at the stile for at least 8 minutes if not more. Legs died around 9km (again) at hill before the race split and had to really fight to keep up with Sue et al. Did and carried on. Has a couple of short works but really only walked up the big hill towards the end. Kalya and I had a bit more pace in the last k as Sue dropped off. We then sprinted from just after the last metal kissing gate all the way in :-) ( phone is saying 4:46/km for that 150m… in hindsight it was further than we though it was going to be!!) My trail shoes coped well. Tough, great fun, would look to do it again next year.

Sounds like you had a really enjoyable experience which is amazing. It’s lovely when you get to run with others and sounds like that support really helped. The legs starting to ache at 9km is a bit of a worry and something we need to keep an eye on. Perhaps it’s a just a result of the increase in training of late? Impressive pace at the end though, pretty sure that was quicker than I managed. Well done Rebecca.
