Rye to Hastings

LOAD: 700

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

12 Miles @ HM Pace (RPE: 5-8)

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

3 Races in 1. 9km of flat through the nature reserve and tricky Sea Wall. Nothing quicker than half marathon pace through this section. Then comes the climb, take your time and walk where needed. The finish from the top of Barley Lane is great fun, let yourself go and you could be running anywhere between 5-10k pace down the hill.

A difficult race to set targets for giving the nature of the route. Keep the pace steady to begin with and save some strength for the hills. Walk breaks are sensible here, but once you reach Barley Lane then kick on as if you are doing a fast parkrun. A strong finish always makes for an enjoyable race.

This was a tough one as wasn’t feeling 100%! First part was ok but probably ran too quickly and the shingle was tough to run on! The hilly bit was ok as walked a lot of them but the toughest bit was the last downhill bit as my throat was so sore by this point and was struggling to catch my breath! Sue & Esme stuck with me which obviously slowed them down but was very appreciated 😊

It’s nice to have that support from your friends. Really sorry to hear you were struggling and hope it hasn’t got any worse since yesterday. But you did really well to still take part and complete the course. Better days ahead no doubt. Well done Klare.
